  • University welcomes new Chevening scholars 30 November 2015 Bristol鈥檚 Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Hugh Brady, welcomed the new cohort of Chevening scholars at a reception hosted by the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law last week.
  • Largest-ever computer vision dataset from wearable cameras 19 April 2018 Computer science researchers at the University of Bristol have released EPIC-KITCHENS, a dataset filmed in 32 kitchens across four cities. The films, which include 11.5 million images, have been annotated with 40,000 action examples and half a million objects. This ground-breaking dataset will help machines to learn and advance first-person vision, enabling improvements in robotics, healthcare and augmented reality.
  • Patient recovery after surgery for oesophageal cancer isn鈥檛 influenced by using standard or keyhole incisions 25 March 2024 New research has found no evidence of a difference between recovery time and complications when comparing standard and keyhole surgical incisions for the treatment of oesophageal cancer (cancer of the gullet). The study, led by the University of Bristol Medical School and published in the British Journal of Surgery, showed surgeons treating patients with oesophageal cancer do not need to change their practice if they have a strong preference for either procedure type.
